【摘要】:Aknowledgeoftheinorganiccompositionofawasteisoftenrequiredfortheselectionofappropriatewastedisposalpractices.Solidwastemayexistinavarietyofformsandcontainarangeoforganicandinorganicconstituents.Thispracticedescribesadigestionprocedurewhichdissolvesmanyofthetoxicinorganicconstituentsandproducesasolutionsuitablefordeterminationbysuchtechniquesasatomicabsorptionspectroscopy,atomicemissionspectroscopy,andsoforth.Therelativelylargesamplesizeaidsrepresentativesamplingofheterogenouswastes.Therelativelysmalldilutionfactorallowslowerdetectionlimitsthanmostothersampledigestionmethods.Volatilemetals,suchasleadandmercury,arenotlostduringthisdigestionprocedure,howeverorgano-leadandorgano-mercurymaynotbecompletelydigested.Hydride-formingelements,suchasarsenicandselenium,maybepartiallylost.Sampleswithtotalmetalcontentsgreaterthan5%maygivelowresults.Theanalystisresponsiblefordeterminingwhetherthispracticeisapplicabletothesolidwastebeingtested.1.1Thispracticedescribesthedigestionofsolidwasteusingnitricacidforthesubsequentdeterminationofinorganicconstituentsbyplasmaemissionspectroscopyoratomicabsorptionspectroscopy.1.2Thefollowingelementsmaybesolubilizedbythispractice:
